Accessibility

At Open Door, we believe that God’s invitation is for all, and we want our Church to reflect His heart. We are learning how to make our building and our services more accessible, ensuring that every person who comes through our doors feels free to focus on responding to Jesus.
backdoor

The Eden Street entrance (at the back of the building) is the best access point for wheelchairs and those who require a level entry.

There is also a platform lift to enable wheelchair users to access the upper floor.

During the Service
  • Structure of the service: A rolling slide show before the meeting will display a rough order of service before we start. We don’t use strict timings to avoid ‘schedule stress’, but you’ll always know what’s coming next.

  • What to Expect: Check out what a typical Sunday is like and see photos of our team and the building before you arrive.

  • Sensory Aids: Ear defenders are available for anyone who needs them. (Ask a member of the welcome or stewarding team)

  • Hearing Loop: We have an induction loop system installed in the main hall. Please switch your hearing aid to the ‘T’ position (Telecoil). Our system covers the left hand side of the seating area (as you face the front) We also have a bluetooth hearing loop system which covers the entire hall, speak to our building manager (Dougie) to set this up.

  • Participation: We have a host who coordinates the meeting and will tell you what is happening next. On the days when we take communion (usually the third Sunday of the month) we offer individual ‘communion cups’. We always use non-alcoholic juice and gluten-free bread.
